The 6th Liverpool Anarchist Bookfair!

11am till 5pm at The Bridewell Studios, Prescot Street, Liverpool L7 8UL, on Saturday 6th July 2024.

A day of stalls & workshops. Free entry (donations towards events costs welcome). Books, zines & more to educate, agitate and organise!

After the depressing non-event of the general election (I predict the government will win) our bookfair will be just the thing to cheer and recharge you. Anarchists don’t delegate power to politicians or look for scapegoats. We don’t sneer at the people who try to do good and we don’t let ideology trample over human kindness. We care about stuff and we make things happen.

This year’s special guests include the Moscow-based Radical Theory and Praxis publishing co-op who will be giving us an online presentation about an important figure in the Russian anarchist – anti-fascist scene. Aleksei Sutuga spent time in jail and passed away in 2000.

Police Spies Out Of Lives will update us on the drawn out but crucial spycops enquiry in Britain. Quite a lot of activists had their lives turned upside down when they discovered that their friend / lover / comrade was a deep cover spycop and the system itself has been shaken to some extent by this scandal.

Patients Not Passports are committed to free health care for everyone in Britain regardless of race and immigration status. Members will be telling us about their work in the workshop room.

Members of Liverpool’s Next To Nowhere social centre will be sharing some of their experience and ideas in a workshop called Making Things Happen and Being Safe. We’ll talk about decision- making and team work and will also touch on how we might handle difficult and disruptive people.

Stay after the main fair for a radical Spoken Word session at 6pm. Want to give us a poem, story or song? Join in. After that there will be films courtesy of Red City Disco who will also be running the after party at the same venue, starting around 9pm (Solidarity Disco, late night DIY party on the Golden Lounge Sound System. Musical contributions from Lupini, Nace, Nozomi Sounds plus residents J.G. Ramsden, Elja and Theo FTBWP. Moving image selected by Jess Thorne, anarchist historian and union organiser. BYOB + Bar)

Red City organise periodical DJ nights and raise money for righteous causes like us. This event’s funds will also go to help Palestinian victims of Israeli attacks. Buy your ticket now at News From Nowhere bookshop, Bold St, L1 for £10. Or £15 on the door.

Food on the day will be provided by Liverpool’s Food Not Bombs who have to date fed healthy vegan food to thousands of hungry people and managed to not bomb anyone. If they can manage it...
